Siemens' earliest presence in Taiwan dated back to 1955 and a
representative office was set up in 1970. In 1989, Siemens
Limited Taiwan was formally established and it signed a
strategic alliance with the Ministry of Economic Affairs in
1994. To further strengthen the alliance, Siemens and MOEA
launched the A+ R&D Center in 2009 to support the
development of Taiwan's machine tool industry. Siemens
currently owns two subsidiaries in Taiwan: Siemens Limited
Taiwan and Osram Taiwan Co., Limited.
Over the past several decades, Siemens Limited Taiwan has
been serving as an innovation partner to many heavyweight
companies in Taiwan. By utilizing its close partnership with
these companies as well as state-of-the-art technologies
from its global innovation network, Siemens has been
answering tough questions confronting Taiwanˇ¦s Industry,
Energy and Healthcare Sectors and has been making
significant contribution to Taiwanˇ¦s economy. In a nutshell,
the company supports 70% of major semiconductor & TFT LCD
manufacturers in Taiwan with automation solutions that
support manufacturing processes. Siemens equips Taipei 101
with its building automation and security solutions and is
one of the leading suppliers to Taiwanˇ¦s metro systems,
including Taipei Metro and Kaohsiung Metro. The company also
provides fully integrated iron and steel plant solutions to
Taiwan's metal industry. In addition, more than a quarter of
Taiwan's power capacity is generated by Siemens equipment
and the island-wide power dispatch network has been
operating using an energy management system from Siemens.
